The Missions Team

The Missions Team has a dual focus, geographically. Here you can read more about our activities at home in Norway, as well as about our contact with our “friendship student group” in Western Russia!

Trondheim, Norway

All Christians are part of an extremely important mission. The essence of this mission is to present what we believe in to people who have never heard the gospel. It was Jesus himself who told his disciples (the Christians) to complete this assignment (Matthew 28:18-20). We have an important message which makes the difference between eternal life and death. We must, in love, share this message with our fellow human beings!

The Missions Team is in other words concerned with part two in Laget’s objectives, namely to “Win others for Christ”. Since Laget is a student organisation, our primary focus is directed towards our fellow students. The Missions Team aims to support Lagets members in “making Jesus known in schools and study places” in Trondheim. 

The group therefore organizes activities which everyone in Laget is invited to be a part of.

With these activities we wish to:

• put aside time for God and allow Him to use us
• come into contact with others, and listen to what they have to say
• open up possibilities to speak to others about life and faith
• show love to others in what we say and do
  
   

Whatever gifts and abilities you have been given, you can be a part of this!

Examples of activities we have tried are:

• a group outing to the Student Society in Trondheim to listen to a lecture and to be a part of the environment there
• so-called “waffling”, where we make and give away free waffles in the centre of town in the middle of the night

We have many more ideas, and would love to hear from you if there is something you would like to try together with Laget and the Missions Team.

St.Petersburg and Murmansk, Russia

Trondheim Christian Student Union (TKS), also known as ”Laget”, is affiliated with the Norwegian Universities and Schools Christian Fellowship (NKSS) and International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). The latter is a worldwide organisation for Christian students.

We in TKS have a mission’s project. We support two so-called “friendship student groups” in Russia. These groups, which go under the name CCX, are also a part of IFES. They are in St.Petersburg and Murmansk.

TKS supports these groups financially, by donating 25% of the offerings from our Friday Gatherings to be shared by St.Petersburg and Murmansk. The Missions Team also organises mission’s gatherings once a semester, where we raise money for CCX through auctions and other fun activities.

In addition to financial support, we pray for the students and leaders of CCX. The Missions Team is responsible for maintaining contact with our friendship student groups, for keeping updated on what and how they are doing, as well as how we best can support and pray for them.

Over the course of the past few years, we have both received visits from Russia and have sent member of Laget to visit CCX.

• In February 2006, Maxim and Natasha visited TKS. They were here for a week and were able to join us for our yearly Inspirational Weekend at Vassfjellkapellet.
• In July 2006, Torkel and Trond from TKS joined CCX for their summer camp under the midnight sun in Murmansk. You can read about their trip here.
• In March 2008, Natasha (not the same person as in 2006) and Raya from CCX came to visit. They were here for 5 days. It was good to talk to them, to see pictures and hear about the work in Western Russia. They also got to hear about our work here in Trondheim, and took with them prayer requests from us as they returned to Russia.
