What we believe in?

Many people wonder about the foundation for a Christian faith, here I will try to give an outline and answer some of the most common questions, hopefully in a manner that is easily understood. Some of the questions I have been asked are:

First of all

We believe that there is only one God and that Jesus is God's Son (is because he rose from the dead and lives today!), and we believe that God sent his only Son, to save us because he loves us humans! We also believe that God is a trinity: God the Father, God the Son Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. And so Jesus is also God, not only a man that lived many, many years ago.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)

The world has got a problem

Save us; all right, but from what? The problem was - and is - sin. It is not a problem we can solve on our own, we need help. And, yes, everybody has sinned. Think about your own life, have you never done anything you know was wrong? I guess there is something that pops up in your mind, it certainly does in mine.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23)

The separation between us and God

Sin is what separates us from God, God is holy and does not tolerate sin. Sin came into this world at the time of Adam and Eve, and has been here since. Christians do not believe they are better than others, we believe we are just like everybody else; all sinners and dependent on God's grace.

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear."
(Isaiah 59:2)

The solution is

The solution to the problem of sin was that God sent his Son to earth, to take all our sins on himself. Yes, it is possible, because we believe in an almighty God and his Son, and when you are almighty, this is just child's play! And the best thing about this solution is that it is a gift; which means we cannot pay for it, or work for it. We just have to accept it.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast."
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

Conclusion

Yes, that one man died a long time ago, really is a good thing. We are all sinners, and Christians do not think they are better than others: But, they do believe that they have found something that is good for everybody! Salvation is for everybody! You do not have to do anything but to believe and to accept.

If you want to accept Jesus as your Savior, this prayer is a good starting point:

God, I realize that I cannot live a life that is perfect enough for you, and I need your help. I realize that I am a sinner, and I know that without you, Jesus, I am lost forever. Jesus, I want to accept you now, and I want you to be the leader in my life. Thank you for letting me be your child, and that I am on my way to heaven and eternal life. Amen.

If you have made a decision, you are saved. Feel free to say a prayer like this too. I recommend you contact a church where you live or someone you know is a christian, so that they can help you further.

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God"
(John 1:12)
